The day begins with a Blues Band performance at the Hastings Farmers Market. Then, it’s off to an organ performance at a church in Dobbs Ferry, followed by jazz on the waterfront. Squeeze in a drumming circle and some flamenco in Irvington. And, finish listening to a rock band, huddled around a firepit with new friends in a Tarrytown backyard. This is just a snapshot of the musical adventure that awaits on RiverArts’ annual Music Tour, with performers ranging from Grammy Award winning International artists to high school students.
The Music Tour is a celebration of the depth and breadth of the Rivertowns’ music community. At this annual event, nearly 300 musicians perform 120 concerts in 36 venues on one day. Fourty-minute performances begin every hour on the hour from noon to midnight throughout our villages—in living rooms, on porches, back lawns, cafes and restaurants, places of worship, flatbed trucks, and more. There is something for every taste and whim, from folk to rock; classical to jazz; country to world.
This freewheeling celebration is free to the public and has become a perennial favorite.
