Say “bonjour” to Salon Sundays, inspired by the 18th Century French salons founded as a means for emerging artists to gather and show their works in large numbers. Artists filled the walls, floor to ceiling, exhibiting anything and everything for the public and each other. Salons drew intellectuals, writers, poets, sculptors, painters, printmakers, supporters, and those interested in engaging with the creative community.
RiverArts’ spin on this historic tradition features up to six artists showing on one Sunday each month from 11am to 2pm. The program was created in response to feedback we received from our community, indicating people wanted to keep visiting local artists even after our Studio Tour weekend had concluded.
Voila! Salon Sundays was born and offers a petite version of our annual Studio Tour that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
